“As a full boarder, I think we are so lucky with our boarding facilities here at Woodford. We have kind and loving boarding staff and also have the freedom to treat this as our home away from home.”

Charlotte Tietjen • Year 10

Inhouse

Life in our 5 boarding houses is always busy. Our boarding environment promotes the idea that other lives really do matter; girls are encouraged to affirm and empower each other’s sense of self-worth. Friendships made at Woodford often last a lifetime.

Each of the boarding houses has a Housemistress and older girls help younger students within this pastoral care system. Our girls enjoy individual bedrooms and easy access to e-mail, telephones and faxes. Year 12 and 13 students also appreciate our new senior common rooms that are equipped with kitchen, entertainment facilities and a computer study room. House and teaching staff supervise homework at all year levels and an inspiring range of activities are offered for full boarders on weekends.

The structure of boarding life promotes effective study routines and full participation in school activities is encouraged. Day girls can also experience the companionship and other benefits of boarding for requested periods of time as approved by the Principal.

“The boarding house is great fun. The Housemistresses are really nice, it’s like having a second Mum. They are also always willing to help.”
Kate Gray • Year 7
