Attendance Dues

These are charged in accordance with the Private Schools’ Conditional Integration Act 1975. Attendance dues can be used only for Ministry approved property and Integration related costs.

Special Character Levy (donation)

This levy is used to fund the on-going cost of preserving the Special Character of Woodford.  As a relatively small school, payment of the levy by each parent is critical because if payment is not made, it becomes impossible for the school to provide the Special Character which parents are seeking in making the choice of Woodford for their daughter’s education.  Woodford’s Special Character provides for such features as:

A caring, Christian, and stimulating learning environment for students of all academic abilities.

The school Chapel and the provision of pastoral care by way of a holistic Christian education.

A low individual pupil/staff ratio.  Woodford House is committed to having more teachers and support staff than the entitlement provided by the Ministry of Education.

Outstanding facilities within a unique rural environment of 22 hectares.

At the time of Integration, the State inherited the use of our buildings, equipment and technology, the maintenance of which cannot be totally funded by the Government’s Operations Grant, but remains an on-going obligation for the Woodford Proprietors and Board of Trustees.  By way of example, one computer is provided for the equivalent of every three students and Woodford's information technology network is subject to a regular replacement programme every four years.  The cost of maintaining and supporting this intensive electronic learning environment is in excess of $100,000 per annum.

The Special Character Levy (donation) is collected by the Proprietors.  By way of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Woodford Proprietors and the Board of Trustees, the Proprietors assist the Board of Trustees to meet their funding shortfall out of Special Character Levies (donations) collected by the Proprietors, who retain any surplus and apply the same towards meeting the Proprietors’ respective costs of providing an education with a Special Character.

In most cases there will be a taxation benefit to parents from the opportunity to claim the Special Character funding as a charitable donation. A donation certificate, for taxation purposes, is provided to parents by the end of April each year.  The Special Character Levy (donation) does not contain GST.
