The Woodford Kitchen is operated under contract by Eurest Catering. Eurest brings a professional dimension to the provision of meals for both boarders and day girls.
Eurest operates a dietary programme called “Taste for Life”, to which the School has subscribed. Controlled by a Eurest dietician, “Taste for Life” ensures that the dietary needs of our students are constantly managed and monitored.
There is a nine bed Health Centre on the premises. Full boarders are given priority placement here.
The Hastings Health Centre is used for after-hours emergency care. A staff member will always accompany the girl, liaise with medical staff and inform parents.
The School Doctor is available Tuesday and Friday mornings before school. Other problems of a non-physical nature will be referred to the appropriate person or to the School Counsellor.
Anyone who feels ill or needs first aid must report to the Administration Office before reporting to the Health Centre during the day or the House Staff after school. If a girl is on medication she is to place the medication in the office of the House Staff (for safety reasons).
Bedrooms are School property. Girls are responsible for their care. It is important that boarders each check their room carefully at the beginning of each term before signing the clearance form.
For reasons of hygiene, girls must bring their own pillows.
Girls are responsible for the tidiness of their rooms and must keep them vacuumed and dusted. Rooms will be checked by the House Staff.
Airtight containers must be used for food storage (tuck boxes). Years 7-10 may not have food in their rooms; their tuck boxes will be stored in the tuck room and will be available before and after school only.
Stereos may not be played at a volume that can be heard outside the room. Headphones are a considerate alternative. Not all bedrooms have electrical points so radios must be battery operated.
No other electrical devices such as blankets, adaptors, TV, heaters, DVD players, hair straighteners, etc, may be used in rooms.
No girl is to enter another girl’s room for any reason if that person is not there, and no more than two girls may “visit” in a room at a time.
Valuable ornaments and jewellery are best left at home.
The first weekend of Term 1 is a “no exeat” weekend for Year 7-10 weekly and full boarders. The purpose of this is to promote friendship development and to establish House routines.
Pocket money is required for Chapel collections, postage stamps, phone cards, weekend tuck shop, toiletries, outings and various fund raising activities. All money and valuable items should be left with the Housemistress for safekeeping.
It is advisable for you to arrive at school fully equipped. Extras may be purchased when in town.
It is strongly recommended that valuables and large sums of money are not brought to school. If it is necessary, they should be handed in to the Housemistress, Boarding Manager or Principal’s Personal Assistant. Boarders should use their lockable wardrobes, lockable boxes, or hand valuables into the Housemistress. Valuables of any kind must not be left in bags, changing rooms, rooms or lockers. In the case of suspected theft, the school will not hesitate to call in the Police.
Year 13 boarders may drive a motor vehicle during term when permission has been requested in writing by the parents, and granted by the Principal.
Transporting Boarders
Formal leave arrangements must have previously been made with the Boarding Manager. Special arrangements for brothers and sisters under the age of 25 to drive girls should be made with the Principal, and permission for this must be renewed each new school year.
Bus Bookings
Requests for bookings must be made to the Boarding Manager prior to the weekend of travel.
