Leave from Boarding Houses

Our standard leave arrangements are outlined below:

Weekend Leave Per Term:

Years 7 to 10: 3 weekends including full exeats and mid-term break as listed on the School calendar.

Year 11: 4 weekends including full exeats and mid-term break listed on the School calendar

Year 12: 5 weekends including the full exeats and mid-term break listed on the School calendar.

Year 13: any weekend as approved by the Boarding Manager.

This structure reflects a clear transition of privileges for seniors and was devised after consultation with current boarders.

Mid-term Breaks – one per term

These are all listed on the School calendar.  Houses close at 5:00pm and reopen at 4:00 pm on the day before classes re-commence; girls must return by 7:00 pm.

Full Exeats

These dates are listed on the School calendar.  Houses will close at 5:00pm on Friday and reopen at 4:00pm on Sunday; girls must return by 7:00pm.

By having set weekends that the Houses close we are:

enabling families to plan 12 months in advance;

providing a better structure for boarding activities to be planned with ensured success because of guaranteed student numbers;

preventing too few girls from being left at school on the weekends and the potentially upsetting effect this can have;

alleviating the pressure parents can feel, as well as the associated costs, when girls ask to come home regularly; and

giving staff a working roster that is more manageable as it sets aside time for rest and rejuvenation during hectic terms.

For those students with school commitments on Saturdays, it is suggested that these are the weekends the girls choose to stay with friends or family who live in the area, or an exemption request is made to the staff member in charge of the activity at least three weeks prior to the event.
