Boarding

Woodford House has approximately 200 boarding places for girls from Year 7 to Year 13. The girls come from a variety of backgrounds, many living in rural areas on the East Coast, Central Hawke's Bay, Manawatu and the central North Island. Some girls leave the hustle and bustle of urban Auckland to board at Woodford while others enjoy the stability of full boarding when their parents are living overseas.

Life in our five boarding houses is always busy.  Our boarding environment promotes the idea that other lives really do matter; girls are encouraged to affirm and empower each other’s sense of self-worth. Friendships made at Woodford often last a lifetime.

Each of the boarding houses has a House staff member and older girls help younger students within a pastoral care system. The majority of our girls have individual bedrooms and all have easy access to e-mail, telephones and fax facilities.  To meet the needs of our Year 12 and 13 students, we have special accommodation consisting of single bedrooms, senior common rooms that are equipped with kitchen, indoor and outdoor entertainment facilities, and a computer study. Our facilities always provide modern and comfortable accommodation away from home.

The structure of boarding life promotes effective study routines and full participation in school activities is encouraged.  House and teaching staff supervise homework at all year levels and activities are offered for full boarders on weekends.
