Activities

 

Walks:

Years 11 to 13 may take walks outside the grounds, adhering strictly to set rules and at times acceptable to the House Staff. Year 11 girls are to walk in groups of a minimum of four. A minimum of two Year 12 and 13 girls may walk together. All girls must be in sports uniform. Years 7 to 10 may take walks in the School grounds, in pairs, after signing the Leave Book.

 

Bicycle Rides:

Full Boarders from Year 11 and above may bring a bicycle to school for their own use at weekends. A lock for your bicycle is essential and a helmet must be worn. Girls may ride in groups of two for no longer than 40 minutes. Permission is to be obtained from the House Staff and the expected route and return time noted in the Leave Book.

 

Running:

Year 11 in groups of four, and Year 12 and 13 in groups of two, may run outside the school grounds any day of the week for no longer than 40 minutes, and all girls must be in sports uniform. Year 7 -13 girls may run in pairs within the school grounds. All Year 7 - 12 girls must be in PE Uniform, but Year 13 girls may run in tidy mufti. All girls must sign in and out of the Boarding House/Administration Office. A list of suitable routes is available from the Sports Dept. Running is not permitted in the mornings in Term 2 and 3, and all girls must be back at the House by 5.15pm in Terms 1 and 4 and 5.00pm in Terms 2 and 3.

 

Trampoline:

A trampoline is available for use by students. Strict rules apply for the safety of trampoline users.

 

Use of School facilities outside school hours:

Swimming Pool:

The swimming pool is available for student use, but strict rules apply and must be obeyed.  Anyone breaking the rules will be banned from the pool for the rest of the year. All girls must have House Staff consent to swim after school and at the weekends.  After swimming, girls must change in the pool changing rooms and leave the pool area fully dressed, including shoes, with their togs and towels.

 

Gymnasium:

All Year 11-13 girls may have access to the gym on request to their House Staff. The gym must be left tidy, with all gear stored away, lights turned off and locked (including all windows).  The key is available from the Boarding Manager. During the week correct PE Uniform must be worn, but in the weekends tidy mufti may be worn.

 

Weight Training Room:

This specialist room is for the use of Year 11-13 students who have been properly briefed by the PE/Sports Staff. During the week they must wear correct PE Uniform.  In the weekend they may wear tidy mufti. Other girls maybe given the opportunity after consultation with the Sports Department.

 

Computer Room:

The Hodge Computer Room is available from 7.30am to 9.00pm Monday to Friday. Weekend use will be at the discretion of the Boarding Manager. The room should be left tidy and all doors and windows closed and lights turned off.  No food or drink is to be taken into the room.

 

Music, Art, Graphics and Photography Rooms:

These rooms may be used outside school hours with the permission of the respective Head of Music or Art.  The rooms should be left tidy and locked.  The Art Room is not to be used from 6.30 to 7.30pm, Monday to Friday, unless special permission has been granted.

 

Memorial Library:

The Library may be open on Saturday and Sunday by request to the Boarding Manager.
